The first step is to share with our engagement photographers in NYC and North Jersey your idea and location preference. Style includes urban, city, modern vintage, country, nature, and even mix + match. Creative engagement idea includes a fun theme, storyline, styled shoot, couture session, and private couple boudoir. Couture session includes hair, makeup, and sometimes fashion pieces. A themed coverage can also combine with a storyline. Boudoir couple is a sexy private shoot at a chic hotel or the comfort of your choice. We also encourage sentimental, fun, and unique engagement prop for all of the sessions.
We’re located in the waterfront North Jersey, which has awesome view of New York skyline. We have photographed engagements in NYC, Liberty State Park Jersey City, Hoboken streets, Blvd East in Weehawken, Central Park, High Line, Meatpacking district, Brooklyn Bridge, few Botanical Gardens, Atlantic City beach, and many other awesome photography locations.
Engagement tips and idea:
What should I wear? We recommend only 1 change for the 2 hour coverage and 2 to 3 outfit changes for the 3 hour coverage. A good idea is to choose lighter color and simple pattern during the day. Darker color and more dressy for the evening pictures. You can plan and match the color or style with each other. Your engagement photographer will often ask you to sit on grass or bench, and lean on wall, so dress comfortably for those situations.
Should I bring props? We encourage all kind of fun props for the photoshoot. It can be something meaningful ( favorite soda, candy, book ), handmade ( save the date sign and banner, old photos together, travel scrapbook), and even something big ( hobby, car, styled shoot props ). Your furry ones – dog + cat – are also welcome for your engagement!
Which location is the best? If you choose multiple or large location, be sure to budget enough time for the travel. For example, New York engagement pictures may include High Line, Soho, even Brooklyn Bridge. You will have to consider the traffic and various transportation of getting there. Which one is more efficient? taxi, subway, drive, or walk? You may also have to consider how crowded is the place. Will there be alot of people in the background? We can help you narrow down the list and pick the best one.
Which day is the best? Typically, Monday to Thursday is better than Friday to Sunday. If your first choice is New York City or NYC, we highly recommend the weekdays. For NJ locations, since we will be photographing around the sunset time, it may be less crowded on weekend at certain parks. The park may be filled with residents just got off work, exercising, or taking a evening walk.
Want something different? Not all engagement photography have to be like a casual date in different locations. You can talk to us about how you first meet each other and interesting stories you both shared. We can plan with you and capture the photos as if it’s telling a story, much like scenes from movie. Simple love story, a suspense, a cute comedy, and even a themed storyline will be awesome! We also offer a special storyboard layout album made for those sessions.
What happened if it rains? We can reschedule and work with you to find the next possible date.
Besides New York City and New Jersey, our photographers love and available to travel anywhere in the world! The ideas and locations are endless, just send us an email and we will be happy to discuss the details with you.
